The Church of Marlon

Dearly bewildered, we are gathered here today
To give thanks for Marlon, who has shown us all the way -
By running away

Oh come all ye fretful, anxious and despairing
And leave your troubles far behind
Free your body, free your mind, shake off the ties that bind
Marlon you have shown us all the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away

For far too long now we stumbled round in the darkness,
It’s time to dance into the light
Free your body, free your mind, shake off the ties that bind
Marlon you have shown us all the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away

(instrumental)

He did a bunk      (a bunk)
He cut loose        (cut loose)
He ducked out     (ducked out)
Vamoosed            (vamoosed)
He slung his hook, he flew the coop, like a bolt into the blue
Marlon you have shown us all the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away

Oh Marlon you have shown us, a lifeline you have thrown us
Marlon you have shown us all the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way - by running away
You’ve shown us the way -

Thankyou Marlon X 12

Oh My Brother

Oh my brother, how did it come to this?
One father, one mother – two very different kids
Seems I was the lucky one

You were such a strange little boy, always playing in the dark
You would follow me around, there in the background
And to my shame, I turned you away,
I didn’t want to feel your pain, I didn’t give you the time of day -
I shut you out

Oh my brother, how did it come to this?
One father, one mother – two very different kids
Wish I’d tried to understand before it got so out of hand

I was so preoccupied with my own situation
I didn’t care what was on your mind, I never made the time to listen
And I never saw you cry,
Never stopped to wonder why you kept it all inside,
I let you down

(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
And to my shame, I turned you away,
I didn’t want to feel your pain, I didn’t give you the time of day -
I shut you out

Oh my brother, now that it’s come to this
You need more than a sister, you need a friend
I’m gonna try to make amends
Think I’m starting to understand

(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
(Oh my brother) Oh my brother
I’m holding out my hand

Life

Who’s to say what sanity is? Neither you nor I
And if everyone was exactly the same, then what would really be the point of -
Life, with all its complexities, life, with all of the highs and the lows,
The yeses, the nos, the joys and the woes, the maybe, I don’t knows
Life, the passion, the glory, the strife
If you’re lucky you’ll breeze through easy - chances are, you won’t

Any one of us could find ourselves running away from the Black Dog
Oh and there but for the grace if you’re never out of shape and let’s face it,
Everybody’s growing older
Life, with all its complexities, life, with all of the highs and the lows,
The yeses, the nos, the joys and the woes, the maybe, I don’t knows
Life, the passion, the glory, the strife
If you’re lucky you’ll breeze through easy - chances are, you won’t

You’re probably going to run into stormy weather
But if you hang around for it to pass, you could be waiting forever
So you might as well throw your hands to the heavens and dance in the rain instead

Oh life, with all its complexities, life, with all of the highs and the lows,
The yeses, the nos, the joys and the woes, the maybe, I don’t knows
Life, the passion, the glory, the strife
If you’re lucky you’ll breeze through easy - chances are, you won’t
‘Cos that’s life -------

If you haven’t been affected by any of the issues in the show,
We hope you enjoyed it, have a safe trip home
But if something struck a chord, you’re not alone
Because any similarity to any person, living or dead, or to actual events,
Is entirely intentional

But if you’re one of the fortunate few who sails through life unhindered,
Never needing to look inward,

Then do the rest of us a favour and pass on the secret code
Oh our routes may be different, but we’re all bound for the same end of the road
Life, with all its complexities, life, with all of the highs and the lows,
The yeses, the nos, the joys and the woes, the maybe, I don’t knows
Life, the passion, the glory, the strife
If you’re lucky you’ll breeze through easy - chances are, you won’t
‘Cos that’s life -------

Something’s Cooking

Something’s cooking in my kitchen,
Something’s brewing in my pot
After a heavy day of witching
I like to chew on something hot
I’m waiting for my man to fetch up
The centrepiece for my main course
Snow White is far too good for ketchup -
I think I’ll make a special sauce

Ooh a creamy béchamel could do quite well,
A simple mayonnaise may put a smile upon my face,
A little taste of Thai might put a twinkle in my eye,
Or maybe gravy
You are what you eat, so I need fresh young meat
And Snow White couldn’t be more tender or more sweet,
I’ll feast on her and then -
I’ll be the fairest once again

So when I’ve got my Class A offal
I’m gonna make her taste divine
No, I won’t waste her on a waffle -
I’ll marinade her in some wine
It’s hard to choose a single option,
so many make me lick my lips
Yes, my unfortunate adoption has sadly had her chips

Oh on a bed of rice might be very very nice,
A subtle hint of herb could be superb,
Perhaps a shish kebab would be absolutely fab,
Though I’d have to find a skewer
Can’t be doing with a curry, I’m in too much of a hurry,
And a decent cassoulet could take all day,
I haven’t time to bake a Snow White cake, and I won’t stew her
You are what you eat, so I need fresh young meat
And Snow White couldn’t be more tender or more sweet,
I’ll feast on her and then -
I’ll be the fairest once again

A rissole or a fricassée, a that-a-way, a this-a-way,
I’m snacking on Snow White today, and then -
I’ll be the fairest - oh yes I darest - I just don’t carest!
I’ll be the fairest once again

The Song Of The Princess Stuck In The Tower

Oo-woh-oo woh-oo woh-oo woe, woe is me
La la la la, lackaday
Have you ever seen a future queen in so much disarray?
And if you want to know I’ll tell you why I cry, cry, cry

I’m from a kingdom far away where children work and adults play
One dark day I ran away and found myself in the wood
I came upon a shady bower and there I found a golden tower,
But as I bent to pick a flower, a witch appeared in a hood
(She didn’t turn out to be good)
Apparently I was trespassing inside her garden,
And picking her petunias was a crime
She really wasn’t in the mood to grant a pardon
(A fact which was only too obvious at the time)

It was written all over her warty face and her words she didn’t mince
She said I needed locking up, and I’ve been here ever since,
Locked in the tower
For just a flower
And so I sing hour after hour -
Woe, woe is me
La la la la, lack a day
Have you ever seen a future queen in so much disarray?
And if you want to know I’ll tell you why I cry, cry, cry

Oo-woh-oo oh-oo oh-oo woe, woe is me
La la la la, lack a day
You’ve never seen a future queen in so much disarray
It really isn’t any wonder why I cry, cry, cry

Like Snow

I am not a doll, not an ornament, not a toy,
I’m a living, real thing
I am flesh and blood, I am not made of wood,
And I do have feelings
Day after day, locked away in a prison the size of a box,
Done up in frocks - might as well be chains
And it seems to me my only escape could be
To just melt away like snow

She will never let me grow up, puts me down,
Makes me feel like screaming
I am not a child any more, that’s for sure,
How I wish I was dreaming
It’s always ‘Don’t do this’, ‘Do that’,
‘Smile nicely’ and ‘Never complain’,
All frills and no thrills can drive you insane
And it seems to me my only escape could be
To just melt away like snow

When I think of where else I could be -
Out at sea, up a tree,
Taking tea with a lower family - at least I’d be free!
But it seems to me my only escape could be
To just melt away like snow

Wish I could dance in the sunlight,
Freefall with raindrops,
Drift on the four winds that blow
But it seems to me my only escape could be
To just melt away like snow
Like snow
Like snow
Like snow

FROM Cinderella

(I Want Your) Bing Bang Walla Walla

Oi you! (who, me?)  Over there! (wot?)
With the curlers in your hair
Put the cat out, put your teeth in,
Get your backside off that chair (how rude!)
Tea and crumpet? Just dump it
And put your knitting down
You blow my trumpet so let’s pump it –
I’ll pay your bus fare into town

Get up (get up)      get down (get down)
I’ll lead and you can – folla folla
Get up (get up)      get down (get down)
I want your bing bang – walla walla
I want your bing bang – walla walla

Hey missus! Give us your kisses!
And what you want I’ll give to you (oo-er)
Pork scratchings (oink!) or nuts (nuts!)
And a pint of Malibu (chin chin)
Oi Nelly!  Turn off the telly!
And forget about scrubbing floors
Gonna shake it like a jelly –
But we won’t tell ‘im indoors (no way)

Get up (get up)      Get down (get down)
I’ll lead and you can – folla folla
Get up (get up)      Get down (get down)
I want your bing bang – walla walla
I want your bing bang – walla walla
Get up (get up)      Get down (get down)
You make me want to – holler holler
Get up (get up)      Get down (get down)
I want your bing bang – walla walla
I want your bing bang – walla walla
I want your bing bang – walla walla
I want your bing bang – walla walla
